The BBC has set their iPlayer up to work with the Samsung Omnia and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. The service allows TV licence fee payers to catch up with programmes on demand and watch live TV.
The BBC says that at first they will only support a few handsets, namely the Omnia and the Xperia, both of which are Windows mobile devices. The Sony Ericsson C905 will be supported from next week with more coming over the next few months.
Doing the rounds on various forums and you will see that some clever people have figured out ways to make browser of other Windows phones imitate the Omnia to get the iPlayer to work. It is really great to see the BBC using Windows phones to test the new service on.
It wont be long until we see iPlayer coming to all mobile platforms.
