Author: Adam  //  Category: Mobile News, Previews

In October we will see the launch of Nokia’s latest beast of a phone rammed full of features. Yes that’s right, the N96. The successor of the N95, the phone sets new benchmarks in every area as Nokia to appeal to a large market. The only downside is the price tag of £550!

O2 are refusing to stock the N96, mainly because of their commitment to the Apple iPhone, whilst other operators are finding the price of the phone a little steep. When you look at the iPhone which is available on pay as you go for £399, the N96 really does have an immense task on its hands to prove it warrants the price.

Sony Ericsson Alicia leaked

Author: Adam  //  Category: Previews

Sony Ericsson AliciaThe Sony Ericsson Alicia was shown to the world today. It had a very rough video demo back in June. The weird “circle screen” has been spotted on a number of photos but believe it or not there are no specs on the device yet.

At first sight the phone is quite obviously a Walkman phone, but whatever else it has is simply not known. There is a touch sensitive round dial that looks really good, whilst another display above basically makes the Alicia, known as the Sony Ericsson W707 the first device to feature three displays.

Samsung D980

Author: Adam  //  Category: Mobile News, Previews

As you will remember, we said at the beginning of the week that we would be previewing some of the newest Samsung phones to come from the IFA electronics show in Berlin. So today we bring you the Samsung D980.

This phone reminds us of the F480 Tocco as it basically has the same form factor, touchscreen functionality and the 5 megapixel camera. The USP with this phone is the dual SIM function which is hard to come by these days, but really is a welcome addition.

The D980 has a slightly smaller screen than the Tocco and doesn’t have UMTS at all. The D980 only supports microSD cards up to 2GB which is rather crap for all you media junkies. Oh, the D980 is also 5mm thicker too. Hopefully the dual SIM option will make it a good buy, otherwise Samsung have wasted their time on this one.

The new phone also supports tri band on both SIMs, unlike the D880 which only supported tri band on one SIM and dual on the other.

It is also tri band with support for video calling, courtesy of the front facing camera. There’s a 1.8 inch TFT display and a 2 megapixel camera too nicely packaged together.

We can reveal that the very first Google Android based phone has made an appearance, as you can see with the image attached. The source of the images is a Chinese forum, but it is usually quite reliable.
