Just a quick one. When developing a new platform to take on the iPhone, make a phone that actually looks half decent and has at least the same features as the competitor. Say for example, Bluetooth and video recording. Yes believe it or not, these basic features don’t even make it to the final specification. Seriously, how thick do you have be to make a decision like that on a brand new phone?
Surely some heads will roll somewhere if this phone doesn’t make some impact.
So anyway software wise, the phone will make use of all the Google services like Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Google Maps etc. Third party apps will be supplied over the air. Sadly MS Exchange support is nonexistent and there is no desktop sync. This is only available through Google’s online services, which is crap. This is again, another limiting feature of the phone.

Samsung and Armani have teamed up to offer a brand new handset called the Samsung Armani Night Effect. We have to say it looks really stylish and could appeal to quite a few style freaks out there. The phone has some brightly coloured LEDs that go along the sides.
The new phone is crammed full of features. For starters it is quad-band with HSDPA support and is really slim with wonderful brushed metal front. There is a 2.2 inch OLED display and a 3.2 megapixel camera without flash however. The Armani branding is evident across the handset including the LED sections.

In October we will see the launch of Nokia’s latest beast of a phone rammed full of features. Yes that’s right, the N96. The successor of the N95, the phone sets new benchmarks in every area as Nokia to appeal to a large market. The only downside is the price tag of £550!
O2 are refusing to stock the N96, mainly because of their commitment to the Apple iPhone, whilst other operators are finding the price of the phone a little steep. When you look at the iPhone which is available on pay as you go for £399, the N96 really does have an immense task on its hands to prove it warrants the price.

A number of years ago I went on my holidays to America. I had my new phone for a while and wasn’t really up on all of the costs of using my mobile abroad.
I did know that making calls from abroad can be extremely expensive, so I made the decision to only take incoming calls and speak to people who only ring me. That way surely my phone bill will be small and I won’t incur stupid charges. How wrong was I?

Well it looks like HTC are getting ready to release a new white version of their Touch Diamond. With a new white back, the phone is set for release in October and will more than likely gain some more market share for HTC.
With it being released before Christmas and other manufacturers like Apple and Samsung releasing white versions, it seems like HTC think it will be profitable to get in on the act.
Expect the HTC Touch Diamond to be available in October and will be sold for around €550. As of yet there is no word on the US version of the Diamond and whether it will get the white treatment too.

The Sony Ericsson Alicia was shown to the world today. It had a very rough video demo back in June. The weird “circle screen” has been spotted on a number of photos but believe it or not there are no specs on the device yet.
At first sight the phone is quite obviously a Walkman phone, but whatever else it has is simply not known. There is a touch sensitive round dial that looks really good, whilst another display above basically makes the Alicia, known as the Sony Ericsson W707 the first device to feature three displays.

Finally RIM have announced the first phone in its line up to come in a clamshell form factor. Introducing, the Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220. Aside from the clamshell feature, it doesn’t really have anything else fantastic to offer despite of course its good looks.
It comes with the usual Wi-Fi and trackball navigation with SureType QWERTY keyboard. The internal display is QVGA resolution and the external has a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The total size of the phone is around the same size of normal candy bar phones even when its not open.
