Asus have announced the latest Windows Mobile Pro handset – the Asus P552w. This uses an Asus designed 3D UI and has an amazingly powerful CPU plus GPS and Wi-Fi capability. The phone seems to be blessed with everything you could ask for apart from a half decent camera it seems. Strange when its rival is the Apple iPhone.
Coming in slightly bigger, but crucially lighter than the HTC Touch Diamond it boasts a TFT screen, Bluetooth and a microSD slot. It also has support for tri band and HSDPA for high speed internet access.

As you will remember, we said at the beginning of the week that we would be previewing some of the newest Samsung phones to come from the IFA electronics show in Berlin. So today we bring you the Samsung D980.
This phone reminds us of the F480 Tocco as it basically has the same form factor, touchscreen functionality and the 5 megapixel camera. The USP with this phone is the dual SIM function which is hard to come by these days, but really is a welcome addition.
The D980 has a slightly smaller screen than the Tocco and doesn’t have UMTS at all. The D980 only supports microSD cards up to 2GB which is rather crap for all you media junkies. Oh, the D980 is also 5mm thicker too. Hopefully the dual SIM option will make it a good buy, otherwise Samsung have wasted their time on this one.
The new phone also supports tri band on both SIMs, unlike the D880 which only supported tri band on one SIM and dual on the other.

Calls from mobile phones are predicted to outnumber those from landlines within the next 18 months. The number of landline calls has fallen dramatically as we are using mobile technology more and more. But we are not surprised since contracts offer so much value for us all.
There are over 70 million mobile phone contracts taken in the UK and this actually surpasses the actual population of the country, which is 60 million.

Following on from yesterday’s article about the new range of Samsung mobile phones we can now preview another phone. Introducing the Samsung B2700.
The B2700 really is for the serious outdoor person. It’s a heavy duty phone with IP54 certification for dust and water resistance, we aren’t sure yet if this phone is in fact shock resistance though. It is also tri band with support for video calling, courtesy of the front facing camera. There’s a 1.8 inch TFT display and a 2 megapixel camera too nicely packaged together.

Remember the highly anticipated Nokia N96 from February this year? Remember how it all looked so futuristic and flawless? Well many months on it is about to make its way to the shops and I don’t think it is regarded as the greatest phone, not since the latest phone from Apple and HTC. Also the price is stupidly large, so really it’s not all it was cracked up to be.
So the N96 gives us digital TV, 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, GPS navigation and Wi-Fi. Additionally there is 16GB of internal memory that can be increased with a microSD card to 24GB. All this comes on a large 2.8 inch TFT display.

We can reveal that the very first Google Android based phone has made an appearance, as you can see with the image attached. The source of the images is a Chinese forum, but it is usually quite reliable.
The HTC Dream as its known has been used in many Google demos but we can honestly say we thought it would never be released as it was simply a prototype. But, as always, we were proved wrong and the phone will be offered in white as the T-Mobile G1.
