HTC Touch HD gets exclusive Orange deal in UK

Orange have announced that the HTC Touch HD will be available in November exclusively on the Orange network until 2009.

It was well known that the HTC Touch HD was coming to orange next month but the exclusive deal wasn’t known about at all. It is likely that customers will be left with a dilemma in choosing between the T-Mobile G1 and the Orange Touch HD.

Samsung to release new GT C6620

Samsung are about to release a new smartphone named GT-C6620 and it will be the first phone to have the coding for naming their products.

The Samsung GT-C6620 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 based phone and it is the standard version without touch screen. It will also have a built in QWERTY thumb keyboard. There’s no Wi-Fi support unfortunately but there will be a unique user interface which will be completely customized for mobile operators.

Vodafone gets two brand new HP phones

Vodafone has managed to get an exclusive on two new handsets from HP. We aren’t too sure on the cost or exact availability but one thing is for sure they are about to make an appearance in stores very soon.

So the iPaq Data Messenger has a 528Mhz CPU with a 320×240 touch screen display. There is also a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and a 3.1 megapixel camera. 3G connectivity comes with tri-band support. However there is no front facing camera meaning video calls are difficult. There is also a full QWERTY slide out keyboard.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 finally hits the stores

Well the wait is over. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has been released much earlier than its 30th October due date. The device has made quite a few shops around Europe and can be yours for the massive price of €630. Now that is one hell of a price and we would hope that the phone lives up to its expectations to justify the high cost.

So what are the alternatives? Well if that price is a little too high, then take a look at the HTC Touch Pro which retails for €560. This phone has the same features as the Sony more or less but doesn’t boast the Sony Ericsson badge. We will be posting a review of the X1 at a later date.

Vodafone to release the 1231 Smartphone

A new Vodafone branded Windows Mobile OS Smartphone was spotted over at the FCC website and it had a full QWERTY keyboard and GPS. There appears to be no Wi-Fi or 3G support so it looks like it won’t be a high end device.

The 1231 will be a tri-band GPRS/EDGE smartphone with a 2.5inch display, 64MB memory, microSD card slot and a 1.3 Megapixel camera according to the sites data. The smartphone weighs in at 130 grams and is powered with a 1100 mAh battery.

Google release Gmail Mobile 2.0 for Blackberry

Google have today released version 2 of their Google Mobile client for the Blackberry and with it comes offline email and absolutely loads of other improvements.

It appears as if they have redesigned the application from scratch and aside from the performance improvements there’s now multiple account management, email drafts and new shortcuts.

HTC Touch HD makes appearance in Orange magazine

The other day whilst flicking through the Orange customer magazine I noticed the HTC Touch HD in the coming soon section and got all excited as it seems to be a generally better phone than the Diamond. That phone was plagued with problems, mainly poor battery life and usability issues.

So what does the Touch HD has the same features as the Touch diamond but has a large 3.8 inch screen, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD slot and a 5 megapixel auto focus camera. It also runs on a 528Mhz CPU and a decent 1350mAh battery. There is of course Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and the TouchFLO 3D interface.

O2 Priority Club helps you get the perks

O2 are set to start grading their customers with a new product called the O2 Priority Club. Basically if you have a priority club portfolio tariff and have been with O2 for 5 months or more then you are eligible to join. You are assigned to a category dependant on how much you spend.

So for example if you spend between £35 and £50 then you will be on the silver status. If you spend between £50 and £80 then you move to gold then anymore than £80 you get upgraded to platinum status.

Using Windows Mobile on the iPhone possible?

Well there was a really strange story going around the web yesterday about an Apple iPhone running Windows Mobile. We had to check this out for ourselves and came across a video that looked like the iPhone was dual booting between OSX and Windows.

Apparently a Norwegian developer by the name of Erik Kristiansen is responsible for this and was happy to show the functionality off in the video. So, is the video real or fake? Well it is infact a fake.

LG KF900 Prada II announced

Phone manufacturer, LG, have revealed the follow up to their Prada phone. This time around there is some cool features to go hand in hand with the superb looks of the designer phone. Amazingly the only design difference in the LG Prada II is the addition of a QWERTY keyboard.

LG have not given a full detailed spec list, however we can reveal that it will have a 5 megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuzach certified lens. This replaces the previous 2 megapixel camera within the original Prada.
