Finally after a long wait, the very first touch screen device from Nokia running on the S60 platform has arrived. Nokia has not disappointed by keeping to their November deadline. Sadly, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be far in excess of the €279 originally slated.
The phone will be onsale for over €700 in most of the online shops. We would estimate that the launch of the device now will mean that costs could be lower just in time for Christmas.

Not too long ago, there was a blog on a popular site that showed a video of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 running the HTC TouchFLO 3D interface, and as the phone is WM6.1 anyway, it had no trouble. Well believe it or not a very clever developer has done the opposite.
It is now possible to run the X1 panels interface on the HTC Touch HD and it runs very smoothly indeed, as you would expect from HTC’s flagship model that costs around half a grand.

Oddly enough it is now possible to run Quake III Arena on a Nokia phone. You can also use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for playing. To play you have to have a phone with a S60 3rd edition OS and a TI OMAP 2420 CPU, such as the N95 8GB, N82 or E90.
It is also possible to run a game server on the Nokia mobile phone to have multiplayer support for gaming. The Developer of previous Quake ports, Olli Hinkka said he enabled full keyboard and mouse support over Bluetooth to help with better gameplay which is otherwise crap with the standard phone controls.

This is no joke, Microsoft is actually going to make its own branded phone with the help of Nvidia for its graphics core. The phone is set to be announced at the 3GSM in February. There is no mention of release date yet but it will probably be this year sometime.

Nokia has release a limited edition N96 in Honk Kong called the Bruce Lee edition. It comes with exclusive accessories and a back panel imprint of the man himself.
Whilst the specification of the phone is still the same there are several new accessories like the Bruce Lee doll, a wrist strap engraved with his name and a key holder shaped in a nunjaku. The only thing that makes this phone stand out is the back cover. However there is some exclusive Bruce Lee content loaded on the phone like themes and rare photos.

This year RIM has amazed us with two new cutting edge mobiles, the Blackberry Bold and the Blackberry Storm. Well ok, not so much with the storm as the UI is buggy and unreliable at the moment. I would hope after a software update it will be much better.
However I can’t see this happening in the near future, which is a shame as RIM and in particular Vodafone have shot themselves in the foot by rushing through the release. I mean if you buy a Ferrari, you don’t get told “sorry it’s only got a 1.2 litre engine as we are still building the 6 litre version”. It is a joke.

With the arrival of two new smart phones, the BlackBerry Storm and the HTC Touch HD comes the desire to have them no matter what cost. So you can guess that most of us will be looking around for the best loans deals around. But how much are the handsets, that a loan is needed? The answer is around £500. So as you can see a loan for most of us is the only option.
Most of you will be thinking why not get the phone as part of a new phone contract or upgrade? Well as you know most contracts now are up to 24 months in length and that is a hell of a time to be committed to one phone. So buying the phone outright lets you have potentially two phones in a year, which can’t be bad. Read more…

Whilst playing with a work colleagues brand new iPhone 3G, i couldnt help but notice that within the 2 hour time period he had the phone for, there was already a multitude of applications that have been preloaded on there.
I couldnt help but notice that they were all entertainment applications. One such program was a virtual piano. I cant really see the point of that one. I mean where would you see fit to use that, other than show off the touch screen technology and even on that point i have to say that it wasnt the most responsive of displays.

Well with recent rumours doing the rounds about Windows Mobile 6.5, the CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer said that WM 6.5 will hit the market in 2009. He didn’t reveal anything about the OS or infact any of the devices that would have it.
While many of us are talking about WM 7, he said that’s on the Microsoft roadmap. No release date was mentioned, however that probably means we are looking at a 2010 release date.
