HTC Diamond – The iPhone killer?

Well, its smaller and more compact than an iPhone and boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera.

Inside you get HSDPA (3G), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4gb of space for storage. This seems more than a match for the iPhone. However it should be noted that it lacks an external storage option or a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Thankfully it runs on the new Windows Mobile 6.1, although it isn’t the typical Windows experience we are used to. The HTC TouchFlo 3D software takes over and is incredible. It is fully usable and great fun to use.

It is great for accessing the internet too. Instead of using Internet Explorer, HTC have opted to use the Opera Mobile browser. What a brilliant idea this is as web pages are displayed to fit the screen and still retain the original design and ratio.

An amazing feature from HTC is when viewing text, it repositions itself to display on the screen, which stops the need to scroll. This is regardless of what was set in the CSS style sheet.

Like the iPhone from Apple, the HTC Diamond has an inbuilt accelerometer so can view pages and images in landscape mode by rotating sideways.

On a negative side the battery is not best when compared to previous models and may not be the best for such a feature rich phone, however future power saving updates may help out in this area.

The Shout About Mobiles rating for the HTC Diamond is: 8/10
