If you look at a good deal of the new mobiles coming into the market, you have to say that WLAN as feature is becoming more and more prominent. As we look to the future when wireless working and wireless communication gets bigger WLAN as a feature on phones will grow too. At the moment there are 27 million phones that have WLAN and recent reports state that this could increase by 70% by 2012.
Previously mobile phone networks had data down as an extremely good way of making money but this has changed as more are offering flat rate or inclusive plans so using WLAN for internet access at home is not a threat to their revenues and helps prevent overload on the phone networks. In reality, using your mobile phone to access the internet has become the norm.
